4th Annual 2025 Carey Lake Ski Challenge 11K Freestyle

Description:

The Carey Lake Ski Challenge is a classical and freestyle nordic ski event. This great Nordic Ski Challenge offers an opportunity for the recreational / fitness skier and the competitive skier who enjoys a race.

The 11k freestyle race is open to participants 13 years old and up.

Age divisions are as follows:
13-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+

The Lakeview, Black Forest, Highland, and lake loop will be used for the 11K Challenge. All trails will be groomed the day before the Challenge.

CAREY LAKE CLASSIC packets, which include your bib number and chip, may be picked up on Friday, February 14th from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the Hibbing Memorial Building. Please use the front doors at the north entrance, follow signs to pickup area. Packets may also be picked up on race day from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m  near the hospitality tent.  Signs will be posted.

Entries are non-transferable and non-refundable.

REFUNDS: Due to upfront costs of the Carey Lake Classic there will be no refunds issued if cancellation is necessary.

Timing and Results: Chip timing will be used for individual results. Participants will be assigned a chipped race number.

Starting Procedure: Mass starts will be used in the 3k Classic, and both the 12k Classic and 11k Freestyle events.

Skiers will be asked to give previous times or expectations of time when registering.

Skiers will be assigned race numbers that will correlate to starting positions.

The 3k Classic, 12k Classic, and 11k Freestyle starts will all be given a first call, second call, and last call before your start gun goes off.

Award Presentations: All awards will be presented at the end of each event.

Cancellations: The Carey Lake Classic Ski Challenge will be subject to cancellation if the following should occur:

Ambient temperature is -5 degrees Fahrenheit or colder.

There is an overnight snowfall of 6” or more.

Awards:
Official results and age division awards will be based on your Chip time.
