WHAT IS "RACE IN A BOX" ALL ABOUT?

History
The Range Runners Running Club was an active RRCA (Road Runners Club of America) running club from 2015-2022. In 2017, they recognized the need for local races to share their resources. They established five race sponsors and five business sponsors to help purchase a race trailer for storage, which later became know as "Race in a Box". Hope Springs 5K, Red Ore Run 5K/10K, Hoyt Lakes 5K, Longyear Lake 5K, and Courage 5K combined their race equipment and sponsored this project. In addition to these races, WalMart, Essentia Health, Range Spine, and Minnesota Power also sponsored this project with generous donations. With matching funds from an IRRRB culture and tourism grant, they supplemented the sponsor race's existing equipment to include everything needed to host a successful event. In 2022, the Range Runners Running Club board dissolved and is no longer an RRCA affiliated running club. However, demand for the Race in a Box services continues to grow. This site, Range Events, was established in 2023 to keep these services available to local events with the goal of supporting this site and continued maintenace costs for the trailer through Race in Box rental fees.


Rental
In order to promote quality events on the Iron Range, the Race in a Box services are available for local events to rent at the rates below. In addition to the Race in a Box supplies and timing equipment, online race registration is provided through this site and is required for those renting Race in a Box. The Range Events online registration system extremely reduces the efforts to provide race day registration, timing, backup timing, and post-race results. With the exception of the deposit, all additional fees can be subtracted from your online registration funds; this eliminates the need for most races to make any additional payments after submitting their online deposit.

  • $100 - non-refundable deposit (secures your event date)
  • $500 - timing and setup services
  • $100 - final rental payment
  • $1 per participant - bib tag for MyLaps timing system
  • $1 per participant - online registration fee
